Dr. Patricia Ann
Stewart can’t remember a time when caring for others and hard
work was not a part of her life. She became the primary
caretaker of her five younger siblings as a teenager. While
going to college, she supplemented a scholarship by working with
the U.S. Forestry Services planting trees and teaching ice
skating. “My faith in God has been so important in overcoming
the challenges in my life."

Dr. Stewart received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
from The New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994.
She participated in post-graduate training at The University of
California at San Diego Medical Center. This was followed by
three years of specialized training in dermatology, which
included didactic training at Hahnemann University. Dr. Stewart
has developed a special interest in surgical dermatology and
ethnobotany.
Dr. Stewart has been practicing dermatology in Santa Barbara
since 1999. She has also been studying plants in the rain forest
to help discover a cure for AIDS.
As the physician for Santa Barbara Dermatology, Dr. Stewart
feels compassion is essential to a doctor’s practice. “You
really need to relate to your patients as people, not just a
list of symptoms. You have to treat them as you would your own
family.” |
